Hi,

This is the latest Gizmondo port of Chui's uae4all Amiga emulator. Sound works pretty well now, and there are various other enhancements (including speed).

You may download the binary (and source, if you're interested) from:

http://criticalhippo.googlepages.com/uae4allgizmondo2

The readme is included below:

uae4allgizmondo0.6.3
----------------

This is an Amiga emulator for the Gizmondo. This port is maintained by critical (criticalhippo@gmail.com).
If you feel strangely compelled to donate, you may do so via paypal to: criticalhippo@gmail.com

This version shares the same codebase as uae4all gp2x 0.6.3, including the FAME/C core that the mighty
Chui provided. Sound works now.

This is a port of Chui's uae4all code, using the SDL libraries ported to the Gizmondo by sweetlilmre.

Installation
------------

The data directory should be placed on your SD card like this:

SD Card Root
!
!--- uae4all
!
!----- data

If using firefly's launcher, it's best to put uae4all.exe and the supplied dlls
into the uae4all directory, otherwise put them in the root of your SD card.

Put your kick.rom file in the uae4all directory.

The kick.rom file should be a kickstart 1.3 image, and overdumped (512K, rather than 256K).
It is not legal to distribute the kickstart rom, hence it is not included with this release.

You may put your adf Amiga disk images wherever you like on the SD card.

Controls
--------

At the menu, use the FFWD button to select menu items.

Whilst playing, go to the menu by pressing RWND.

Whilst playing, press STOP to toggle between joystick and mouse mode.

Whilst playing, when in joystick mode, press the right shoulder button to bring up the
virtual keyboard. Press FFWD to press a key. Press the left should button to dismiss it.

Whilst playing, when in joystick mode, press FFWD to press the fire button

Whilst playing, when in mouse mode, press the left shoulder button to click the left mouse button.
Whilst playing, when in mouse mode, press the right shoulder button to click the right mouse button.
Whilst playing, when in mouse mode, hold down PLAY whilst using the DPAD to 3X accelerate mouse pointer.

If you have trouble loading games, set the 'Emu Bias' fully to CPU in the main menu and retry.

Release history
---------------

20061112 - version 0.6.3 Now with added FAME/C goodness, and working sound.

20060601 - version 0.5.1 Initial release for Gizmondo from GP2X 0.5.1 codebase.

The rest
--------

The original code I ported it from (a Dreamcast port) is available here:

http://chui.dcemu.co.uk/uae4all.html

zlib is used in this release. zlib is copyright © 1995-2005 Jean-loup Gailly and Mark Adler

Very cool. I'm pleased you did this just when I dusted off my Gizmondo. Not used this thing since new, except service packing and DrMD testing...

Erm, well I'm away this coming weekend. I have the devkit installed so might have a go the weekend after. So say 2 weeks. Of course this depends on me being bothered that W/E...

Got any recommendations of games that work with this? I've tried a few of favourites (Superfrog, Project X, stunt car racer), but no luck yet. I do get some intros with sound though:-)

Thanks,

If things don't seem to be working for you, the first thing you need to try is setting the Emu Bias fully to the left (CPU). This is the most compatible mode.

Since Superfrog works fine with Emu Bias on full CPU for me on uae4al 0.6.3 GP2X, I can't see why it wouldn't work on the Gizmondo. Let me know if it doesn't work after following the above advice, including the full filename of the disk image you're using, and I'll investigate.

Yeah, it seems to work on 0.63 the GP2X.

I'll try it again on the Giz in case I had a different kickstart or something.

Just tried it on Giz 0.63 with the same kickstart. The intro runs, then it does a Guru and reboots. Same disk images as on the GP2X. So somethings amiss.

Thanks,

Cheers for testing. I'll look into it, then.

Thank you Critical for this Port. I will Donate.

I have tried Kickstart 1.1- 3.0 and they are working.
The sound is great. The games are very playble with the sound.
I hope you will find time to improve the emulator.

cu Jens.l

Little question, do you think the emu can run perfect, if we can overclock the Giz a little bit ?

Fantastic work critical, finally an excuse to dust off the gizmondo. smile.gif

Great Giana Sisters is really very playable as are a few other games I tried.

Nebulus and Shadow Dancer are also running at a great speed.

My wish list for Christmas. tongue.gif

1. ADZ support
2. Config. save.
3. Harddisk image support.
4. Overclocking adj.

Ps: One of my favorite Games Gods is only working correct, if you switch the sound first off. In the Game
you can switch the sound on and Gods is working ok. Maybe this can help for other Games if they are crashing.

With best regards Jens

Santa should deliver items 1 & 2 at least wink.gif I didn't realise that adz support wasn't already working, actually.

I did look at overclocking a while ago - maybe I'll get back into that.

I'm concerned about point 3. Enabling hard disk image support could have quite an impact on general speed... we'll see

yes, the sound is there and it's good! smile.gif although i still can't manage to get past the title screen of Super Cars 2. the games can be a bit tricky to load (as always with Amiga emulation).

i recommend everybody to upgrade to this version.. thanks again for this critical!

I love you.

Been waiting for this. In my opinion Amiga emulation without sound is like pizza without the cheese (attn: Pedants - I know... but I like cheese).

What would make it perfect is a bit more speed and working adz support.

Maybe multiple drive emulation too? Or is that there already and I've missed it (I notice the eject menu entry says Eject DF1)?
