GizSNES 0.3.1
Category: Emulators File Version: 0.3.1 File License: GNU Public Licence Description: A port of PocketSNES (a SNES emulator). This update adds widescreen and frameskip cfg NEW STUFF: option to use widescreen stretched display. Frameskip configurable from 1 to 4. GizSNES 0.3.1 --------------- Gizmondo port by critical of PocketSNES, which in turn is based on Snes9x. It emulates SNES console. PocketSNES is licensed under GNU Generic Public License(GPL), as is GizSNES. Source is available on request to the contact address below. The original licence files and documentation may be found in the doc directory of the zip file that this readme file came in. Contact: criticalhippo@gmail.com Installation ------------ Put GizSNES.exe in the root of your SD card, along with the included gx.dll if you don't already have it. Usage ----- ROMs must be in a directory called: GizSNES in the root of your SD Card. They must have either the extension '.smc', or '.zip' for a compressed ROM. Buttons ------- The joypad does what you'd expect. The other buttons are: PLAY B FFWD A STOP X RWND Y L L R R SELECT Speaker START * During emulation, the home key toggles main menu on and off, which will also pause/resume the emulator. Whilst in the main menu, the STOP key exits back to the Gizmondo system. Up and Down on the joypad in the main menu select the menu item. When on the ROM selector menu item, left and right select the ROM to load when PLAY is pressed. Load/Save state operations may only be performed when the emulator has loaded a ROM and is paused. This means that you should load a ROM as normal, then press HOME to go back to the main menu. You may now select either LOAD/SAVE state. Pressing PLAY performs that action. TODO ------ DSP-2 support View File Submitted by critical, on Apr 27 2006, 04:39 PM This post has been edited by Stonker: Sep 8 2006, 07:53 PM |

WOW thanks mate, I didnt even get chance to try 0.1.0 Yeah, bit of a shame I couldn't just change the file attachment and edit the description, but I didn't see a way to do that. Anyway, just as well you didn't bother with 0.1.0 This version plays Donkey Kong Country quite well, and a few others I've tried too. |

not sure if you have the controls but in the right side corner are two controls the tick is a edit buttons and the x deletes the file. anyway hopefully you can do updates then hmm not 100% sure tho. great an update already yay Ah yes - the tick isn't the most obvious 'edit' button I've used this feature now to move the version to 0.2.0, as I've changed the SELECT and START buttons to map to SPEAKER and * respectively. Start wasn't working before, which stopped some games from working in my testing. Seems to work fine, so I'll remember to do that the next time I make a minor change. |

Great work again, i havent got around to trying it yet, but this bank holiday weekend will be great trying all these out, i also will give some constructive critisism (sic) on your emulator ports, i hope other people will do the same to help improve them and find any bugs etc. Thanks again.

There seem to be rendering glitches in some games, and it looks like frame limiting could be useful in others. There's quite a list I've got in my head already, but please do add to it! Quoting specific game versions would be handy when doing so, of course |

Not sure about that but its normally a game that has trouble running on any system. |

I've heard about Mario RPG before, i could be way off but doesnt it use another built in chip i.e like the superfx chip to power it? Not sure about that but its normally a game that has trouble running on any system. From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_RPG "Super Mario RPG was a 32-megabit (4MB) game, which was relatively large for the SNES. It employed the SA-1 chip on the cartridge. This chip is essentially a 65816 clocked at 10MHz, running on an ASIC." The emulation core that GizSNES uses handles SuperFX and DSP1, but I think only ZSNES on Windows does the SA-1 too, from my very brief googling of the subject. |
