GizSMS 0.2.0

Category: Emulators
File Version: 0.2.0
File License: GNU Public Licence

Description:
Port of a Sega Master System (SMS) / GameGear emulator. Scaling needs doing for GG still, but SMS now fullscreen.
GizSMS 0.2.0
---------------

Gizmondo port by critical of smsCE, which in turn is based on SMS Plus.

It emulates Sega Master System and Game Gear handheld consoles.

SMSPlus is licensed under GNU Generic Public License(GPL), as is GizSMS.
Source is available on request to the contact address below.

The original licence files and documentation may be found in the doc directory of
the zip file that this readme file came in.

Contact: criticalhippo@gmail.com

Installation
------------

Put GizSMS.exe in the root of your SD card, along with the included gx.dll
if you don't already have it.

Usage
-----

ROMs must be in a directory called:

GizSMS

in the root of your SD Card.

GameGear games must have the extension '.gg'. Master System games must have the extension '.sms'

Buttons
-------

The joypad does what you'd expect. The other buttons are:

[] START
|> B
>> A

During emulation, the home key toggles main menu on and off, which will also
pause/resume the emulator.

Whilst in the main menu, the [] key exits back to the Gizmondo system.

Up and Down on the joypad in the main menu select the ROM, |> starts

TODO
----

Scaling for GameGear

It has to be validated first by one of the mods. You just have to wait.

If you wanna do it, go ahead .. smile.gif
I'm only using it for a space filler for when I get too irritated with the rest of the stuff I'm working on..
You _are_ releasing source for your ports, yes ?

O.

I'm not keen to do mame right now - you should keep it as a playground... it's important to have these things smile.gif

Source is indeed available for all of the releases I've made so far, as the readme.txt files say. I've sent someone the source for one of them (VBA) already, for example. I only respond to emails on the subject, and I'd appreciate people only asking if they know what they're doing - it wastes my time and bandwidth otherwise (I obviously don't mean you, otaku).

It's not difficult to port these things, of course. You just have to pick the right source base to start with, then hack it for the Giz's controls and other peculiarities. If you look at the number of lines of code I've changed, it's not that many normally. It's picking the right changes that takes time smile.gif

Expect another couple of emu releases this week, then a source-opening spree where I'll put the source to everything released so far up, and we (hopefully others want to contribute) can move forward to polish things nicely.

I'm keen to avoid fragmentation of builds if possible, but of course people can do what they want with the source anyway smile.gif

Excuse the long rant, I'm in Ikea trying to look interested in shelving units at the moment.

Ah, the joys. I put one together at the weekend. Guess what? I've got to move it upstairs now.

It would be cool if someone could work on Mame though
